CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION 1.0INTRODUCTION This chapter presents background of the cultivation, problem statement, purpose, objectives, Questions, scope, and significance of the study. This study has been prompted by the need to investigate the indigenous conflict concern processes use by elders of Somaliland to build peace in unregenerate to their counterparts in Somalia who had been caught up in conditions of unrest characterized by large stand complaisant wars for decades without a truly constituted g everyplacenment in place. 1.1 BACKGROUND Somaliland acquired its independence from Britain as its protectorate on June 26, 1960, and was the counterbalance Somali country to become a particle of the joined Nations. Consequently, the initially hopeful union of the two new-fangled countries end in disaster and culminated in a relentless ten-year civil war (Rayale, 2006:1) .
